THE 'M' WORD IN MOTHER
I just got off the phone with my mother. During the call, I hailed her 'mother' in all the languages I know. This then got me thinking.
The word 'm', is practically in all language when pronouncing mother. For example...
English- mother
French- mere
Greek- mitera
Igbo- nne, nma
German- mutter
Dutch- moeder
Russian- mama
Swahili- mama
Zulu- umama
Chinese(traditional) - muqin
Korean- eomeoni, oma
Latin- maten
Urhobo- onime, ome
Not to say that the word 'm' is in all pronunciation of mother in every language. There are some exceptions. For example;
Esperanto - patrino
Yoruba- iya
Hausa- uwar
Filipino- ina
Japanese - haha, etc.
I've been told that I have interests in mundane stuff. However, I believe that it's the mundane things in life that gives meaning to living. So please indulge me.
